About Us

My name is Brinn Thorsten, and I am co-owner of The Backdrop along with my husband, Richard. We are excited to offer the Capital City a new type of photography studio where both young and old can come to be creative, expressive, and genuinely have fun. 

Inspiration to open the selfie studio came to us, after visiting a similar venue in St. Louis. Prior to visiting it, I had preconceived ideas that this sort of entertainment was only for kids. I was quite surprised when I saw the variety of people that were present and enjoying themselves – moms and daughters, friends, couples, etc. A long-time advocate and supporter of the Jefferson City community, I wanted to bring this opportunity to the Capital City.

Richard and I are the perfect duo! Richard’s inventive, very much a DIY guy, and has mastered the skill of bringing me back to reality when my ideas get a little too big. I’m creative, organized, and have spent the last few years making connections with my community by being involved. 

Being a family-owned business, it's all-hands-on-deck. So, our kiddos, Addison and Xander are definitely part of our team. Addison is a dancer and has a strong interest in interior decorating.  Xander is involved in lots of activities and is never short of ideas.
